What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored in your browser. We use as few as possible.
Cookies we use
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| tepian_session | Keeps you signed in. HttpOnly, not readable by JavaScript. | 30 days |
| tepian_locale | Remembers your language preference (English or French). | 1 year |
| tepian_theme | Remembers your colour scheme preference (light or dark). | 1 year |
| cookie_consent | Records your cookie preference (localStorage, not a cookie). Prevents the banner from reappearing. | Persistent |
Third-party cookies
We use Firebase Analytics (Google) to understand how the site is used. Firebase Analytics sets the following cookies:
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Tracks unique visitors. Set by Google. No personal data stored. | 2 years |
| _ga_<id> | Tracks session data for Google Analytics 4. Set by Google. | 2 years |
We do not use advertising networks, tracking pixels, Facebook Pixel, or social media embeds.
Your choices
Analytics runs by default. To turn it off, click Decline on the cookie banner. To change your choice later, clear cookie_consent from localStorage and the banner will reappear.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking tepian_session will sign you out. Blocking _ga or _ga_<id> disables Google analytics. Search and other features are unaffected.
